New fees for NEFA analaysis effective 10/23/2018

The Core will be closed from Friday, December 21st at 12PM (noon) through Tuesday, December 25th. No sample submission will be accepted during this time. The Core will resume normal operations on Wednesday, December 26th.

 

VITROS no sample drop-off on Fridays after 3:00 pm.

For analysis of unstable metabolites (NEFA, Total ketones, 3HB, ALKP, ALT, LDH UPRO) no sample drop-off on Fridays after 12:00 noon. Late sample submission fee will be applied (2x $price). Effective immediately (06-15-2018)

Rush order analysis additional fees will apply (2x$price) (01-01-2018)

 

SURGERY and CLAMP SERVICES are undergoing a personnel transition process. Please contact Shiuhwei Chen to design and schedule your studies. Services will be perfomed at Mr. Chen's discretion. (03-01-2018)

Overview of Services

The Metabolic Phenotyping Core (MMPC) provides state-of-the-art analytical and phenotypical measures to the scientific community both inside and outside UT Southwestern Medical Center.

 

Our goal is to expand the scope of techniques available to investigators, standardize key methodologies, and expedite the completion of research on diseases related to metabolic disorders (diabetes and obesity), cancer, aging neurological disorders, etc.

  • Chemistry analysis using VITROS MicroSlide™ technology, ELISAs, and magnetic bead mapping multiplex technology
  • Tissue extraction of cholesterol and triglyceride level
  • Metabolic chambers for indirect gas calorimetry, activity, and food/water consumption
  • Urine collection chambers
  • Body composition analysis (MRI and micro-CT)
  • Glucose-insulin clamp studies
  • Seahorse XF-24(3) Extracellular Flux Analyzer for cellular metabolism studies
  • Primary hepatocyte and β-cell isolation from mice or rats
  • Sphingolipid profiling using LC-MS/MS technology
  • Free Amiono Acids profiling using LC-MS/MS technology. For Metabolic preclinical and clinical studies (Not for diagnosis purposes).
  • Exercise treadmills for mice and rats
