This Core will serve the neuroinformatics needs across departments including, but not limited to, Neuroscience, Psychiatry, Neurology, and Neurosurgery. The establishment of a Core as part of the Peter O’Donnell Brain Institute (OBI) will allow Dr. Konopka to continue to assist with projects with neuroinformatics needs at UTSW under the guidance of dedicated staff with a dedicated source of funding separate from her own research projects. The Neuroinformatics Core staff will not only be instructed in the specificities of neuroinformatics, but will also have access to individuals and resources related to bioinformatics that cut across disciplines (e.g. discussions of machine learning and algorithm development).
